Biography

Check'd is a politically charged hip-hop group that spawned out of Portland, Oregon in May, 2006. Since then, Check'd has recorded two EPs, one full length album - titled Project: Reconstruction (P:RC) - and does shows regularly in the Eugene and Portland areas.

Check'd was founded by MC's Onegin Offegan, Jon the Rappist, and King Oliver. Together, they recorded 'The Check'd EP' in July, 2006. In December of 2006, trumpeter Your Funk joined the band and helped record 'The Non-Violent Fist EP.'

In the summer of 2007, Testament joined the group as an MC to complete the quintet that recorded Check'd's first full length album - Project: Reconstruction. P:RC also marks the first full length release on Haunted House Records, the record label owned by King Oliver and Onegin Offegan of Check'd.

Check'd is driven to create political music that is reproduced in sustainable ways. All CD packaging is hand made by Check'd using 100% recycled paper.

Recently, MC Jon the Rappist left Check'd. Also, Your Funk grabbed an excelent gig on a cruise ship for the next several months, which means that Check'd will be performing as an incomplete group.

King Oliver - MC

How did I get into hip-hop? Well, I honestly think it was by reading Dr. Seuss stories then just writing my own. Whenever we had poetry assignments in class I always made mine rhyme, even the haikus. But I haven't always been interested in hip-hop. There was a blue period where I was closed-minded about the genre. Fortunately I got passed that and now it is my preferred choice of music. My first song was a birthday rap for one of my best friends that I recorded on a four track and from there I took off.

Onegin Offegan - MC

I'm an MC, and a producer. I play and write lots of music. I own a record label in Oregon, where I live. I have a PhD in mixology with an emphasis in Mixological Psychology.

Your Funk - Trumpet

Your Funk is a trumpet fiend.
He will rule eternal consciousness.

Testament - MC

Testament is the newest addition to the Check'd family. He is an MC with keen unseen abilities.
